Kalgoorlie West Project
GOLD
The project comprises 8 granted prospecting licenses and 1 granted exploration license located approximately 8km south west of Kalgoorlie and 9km south east of the Binduli mining centre mined by extensive open pits by Croesus mining during the early to late 1990s.
Work during the quarter consisted of a mapping and sampling program with specific emphasis within P26/3120 and P26/3121, the True Sons Project, located approximately 9 kilometres south of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
A number of old RAB holes were located within deeply weathered sediment and subject to resampling. Initial re-sampling of old RAB drill holes at True Sons has returned significant results from at least one RAB hole situated at 357694E, 6584122N [MGA] within P26/3121. The hole has not been clearly identified from old reports, but was probably drilled to the west to a depth of at least 60 metres in intensely weathered sediments.
Composite sample TS1006 [20m; 20–40m] returned an Au value of 1119ppb [1.12g/t] and composite sample TS1007 [2m; 40-60m] returned an Au value of 1436ppb [1.44g/t] for a total intersection of 40m at 1.28g/t.
Other anomalous samples include a 20m composite at 0.13ppm Au [Sample TS1002] and a 20m composite at 0.17g/t Au [Sample TS1010].
Further sampling and mapping is underway in order to outline in more detail the area of interest. From the significant anomalous results returned, the area warrants a systematic drilling program to determine the orientation and extent of the gold mineralisation.
Euro Project
GOLD
The Euro Project comprises 6 tenements located approximately 10 kilometres south of Laverton. They cover a sequence of predominantly sedimentary rocks with subordinate BIFs, Cherts and minor ultramafic rocks. A number of major structures are interpreted from the regional mapping data which transect the tenements with minor outcrop over much of the tenement area.
Work during the quarter was focused on GIS data capture activities in order to prioritise a number of drill targets present within the project area.
P38/3300-3301 cover a contact zone within the metasedimentary sequence where gold mineralisation has been focused. Three gold workings, the Dockie, First Find and Euro Big Lode are within these tenements and anomalous gold results of up to 76.2 g/t Au are present within narrow quartz veins.
P38/3182-3183 are quite prospective and are largely soil or alluvial covered. Some large faults cut through the vicinity of these tenements with little outcrop present masking mineralised and prospective gold bearing structures.
A recent ASX announcement by neighbouring tenement holder Crescent Gold Limited highlighted the definition of a 1.5 million tonnes deposit at a grade of 1.6 g/t Au located just 2 kilometres north of the Nex Euro Project tenements.
Mineralised structures from this deposit are interpreted to continue to the south and work by Nex will be focussed on these targets.
Randalls Project
GOLD, NICKEL and VMS COPPER ZINC
The Randalls project comprises 8 exploration licenses located to the east and north east of the Bulong Anticline, a large south plunging sequence of sediments and volcanic rocks.
Work during the quarter consisted of the evaluation of a number of alteration anomalies identified by a previous explorer using detailed landsat satellite data which determined structural and mineral alteration anomalies based on structure and the interpreted presence of minerals that might indicate alteration associated with mineralisatiion including kaolin, smectite and ferriginous clays.
A program of detailed soil sampling was completed over three tenement areas, E 25/263, E25/315 and E26/1567. Figure 4 illustrates the location of the detailed soil sampling completed.
Sample spacing was on a nominal 200 m X 50 m grid for all programs with samples submitted for multielement geochemistry. In summary a total of 154 samples (RWS001>154) were collected within E25/263, a total of 154 samples (RDS001>154) were collected from E25/315 and a total of 250 samples (CDS001>250) were collected from E26/1567.
Results are expected in the next quarter.
During the quarter Nex Metals also applied for an additional 8 tenements (168 km²) in the Randalls West tenement area and has significantly expanded its land holding in the area.
Extensive salt lake cover to the north has the potential to mask any mineralisation present and a systematic geochemical and aircore/RAB program is required to test the extensive land holding in the area. Structural analysis will be completed in order to prioritise the range of drill targets present.
The company expects the tenements to have similar geology to Integra Mining Ltd, which has a 1.2m ounce gold discovery in the region. The company is working towards replicating those results.
